Yuncheng No.3 Hospital (Yuncheng Blood Disease Research Institute and Yuncheng Geriatric Hospital) was established in 1984. It is a public first-class of second-level hospital integrating medical treatment, scientific research, teaching, prevention and rehabilitation. It is one of the earliest blood disease treatment research institutions in North China. After 35 years of development, it has become a “main specialty and minor comprehensive” hospital with blood disease treatment as the leader and geriatric rehabilitation and treatment as its characteristics.
The hospital now has 270 beds and 257 employees, among them 92 technicians are with intermediate professional titles or above. The clinical departments include hematology (Ward 1 and Ward 2), geriatrics (internal medicine), rehabilitation medicine, orthopedics, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, physical examination, ICU room, operating room, etc. The technology equipment departments include clinical laboratory (blood research department), pharmacy department, functional department, radiology department, etc. It has US GE16 CT, US GE Color Doppler Ultrasound, Flow Cytometer, Bone Marrow Cell Morphology Analyzer, Chromosome Nucleation Automatic Analyzer, COBE Blood Cell Separator, etc. to meet the needs of diagnosis and treatment of various difficult blood diseases, stroke, common diseases and frequently-occurring diseases. In October 2017, the outpatient comprehensive building with a total investment of more than 50 million RMB was officially put into use, greatly improving the medical environment. At the same time, the hospital invested more than 40 million RMB to purchase a large number of rehabilitation equipment, ophthalmology and extra-osseous gynecology minimally invasive equipment, laying a good foundation for the development of hospital rehabilitation technology and minimally invasive technology.
In recent years, the hospital has actively implemented the requirements of the municipal party Committee and the municipal government——"play a good role in characteristic medical treatment". It has continuously deepened the development strategy of "one body, two wings". The level of characteristic medical treatment has been continuously improved. The three major technological advantages of autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for leukemia and lymphoma, ATG for severe aplastic anemia and comprehensive rehabilitation for severe hemiplegia are increasingly prominent, and the services continuously enhanced. Special Medical Specialties
The hematology department was named as a municipal "key specialty" by Yuncheng municipal Health Bureau in 2004, which can carry out comprehensive treatment of various hematological diseases such as leukemia, aplastic anemia, lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome, etc. It has the city's most advanced 100-level laminar flow ward that can be used for stem cell transplantation. Since autologous bone marrow transplantation was carried out in 1990 and autologous peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation was carried out in 2007, a total of 53 cases have been completed by the end of 2018. The first transplant patient has survived for nearly 30 years. We have established long-term and stable cooperative relations with hematological institutions such as Tianjin Institute of Hematology, Shanghai Jiaotong University Affiliated Hospital and Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University. In 2019, the academician expert workstation of Ruan Changgeng (a famous hematological expert and president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering) was started as scheduled, marking a new step in the research and treatment of hematological diseases in the hospital.
Established in 2006, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is the earliest rehabilitation base in Yuncheng with the most comprehensive rehabilitation programs and the largest number of patients. Mainly for cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction, cerebral trauma caused by limb hemiplegia, aphasia, dysphagia and cerebral palsy in children, comprehensive rehabilitation treatment such as drug therapy, exercise therapy, physical therapy, speech training, psychological counseling etc. have been carried out. For the previous13 years, a total of more than 10,000 patients of various types have been rehabilitated. In October 2013, Yuncheng city's first "rehabilitation home" was set up, with health consultation, knowledge lectures and peer education as its contents. It has carried out activities once a month and has carried out more than 60 periods of activities, with good social effects. In 2017, the hospital invested 17 million RMB to purchase advanced sports training, physical therapy, speech therapy and children's rehabilitation equipment, which gave wings to the development of rehabilitation medicine. In recent years, the "Stroke Rehabilitation Medicine Technology Academic Conference of Yuncheng City" has been successfully held three times, and the “Sino-US International Rehabilitation Medicine Academic Exchange Forum” has been held. It has been confirmed as the only designated medical institution for work-related injury rehabilitation in the city and has a high reputation in the rehabilitation field of Yuncheng City.
The Geriatric Department was established on the basis of internal medicine after the hospital was added the brand of "Yuncheng Geriatric Hospital" according to the requirements of the of Yuncheng municipal organization Committee in November 2015. Over the past three years, through pioneering innovation, internal and external linkage, the hospital has opened up the situation rapidly by focusing on the two goals of establishing "geriatric treatment system" and "medical and nursing union". At present, there are five specialized groups: cardiovascular, endocrine, kidney, digestive tract and rheumatism immunity. At the same time, hospice care wards have been set up to carry out palliative treatment and "unaccompanied services" to meet the medical and nursing needs of the elderly and patients with terminal cancer. It has established cooperative relations with more than 10 nursing home successively. Strategies such as professional personnel's in-depth training in health care knowledge, regular free clinic visits, selection of medical personnel for clinic visits, and giving hospitalization priority to people in the cooperative institutions have achieved the complementary and mutually promoting effects between medical care and health care. In May 2018, the hospital awarded the member unit of the collaborative innovation network of geriatric departments by the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases.
