Founded in 1973, Yuncheng Culture and Art Vocational School is the only public artistic technical secondary school in Yuncheng. Over the past 46 years since its establishment, the school has made outstanding contribution for cultural inheritance and development of Hedong area and Shanxi Province. 11000 students have graduated from the school, among them, 4 people have won “Plum Blossom Award” and 42 people have won “Little Plum Blossom Award” of national drama. It has trained more than 800 artistic students to study in Tsinghua University, National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts, Beijing Dance Academy, etc. More than 700 artistic backbones were selected for literary and art organizations at or above the provincial level. The school has won the honors of “Provincial Civilized School”, “Yuncheng Advanced Unit for Propagandizing Ideology”, “Yuncheng Advanced Unit for Vocational Education”, “Yuncheng Labor Model Unit”, and “Collective Third Merit for Shanxi Labor Competition Committee”, etc. It has been awarded the title of “National School-running Unit with the Most Artistic Characteristics” by National Institute of Education Sciences.

Under new leadership, the school is dedicated to overcome the difficulties, focus on the quality of teaching, integrate industry with education, and remold its social image. Since July 2018, it has won national awards for three times, provincial team awards for three times, and city-level award for one time. On May 2019, on behalf of Shanxi Province, the school has won the first prize of opera in National Skills Competition of Vocational Colleges, realizing the breakthrough of winning first prize in National Competition. The faculty has been awarded many honors, including 7 national honors, 24 provincial honors, and 8 city-level honors. 9 teachers have been selected into “Sanjin Talents” supportive plan.
