Yuanqu Yellow River • Mount Li Scenic Spot is located in Lishan town and Gucheng town in the southeast of Yuanqu County, Shanxi Province. It is one of the top ten scenic spots in Shanxi Province, built on the best preserved primeval forest in Mount Li in northern China , the Yellow River Xiaolangdi Key Water Conservancy Project of the Ninth Five Year Plan of the people's Republic of China, and the profound ancient Chinese civilization and long-lasting human ancestor culture in the hometown of Emperor Shun. Yuanqu Yellow River • Mount Li scenic spot has the largest best preserved primeval forest, the largest artificial water surface, and the largest ornamental subalpine meadow in northern China. [Shunwangping]
The main scenic area, Shunwangping, with an altitude of 2358m, is the main peak of Mount Li, named after Shungeng. There is a subalpine meadow with a total area of more than 5400 acres of natural green grass like fungus on the summit. It has won the reputation of "grassland in the clouds" and "garden in the sky". Between July and August, the meadow is full of flowers, just like the brocade falling from the heaven. People in the flowers, clouds at the foot, it’s really a picture of heaven and earth. The three sides are all surrounded by cliffs. It is spectacular to climb and overlook the endless virgin forest, rolling mountains and small islands in the green ocean. Zhang Eryong, a poet of the Qing Dynasty, once had a poem entitled "Climbing the Mount Li" which is popular in the world, and it goes "Where the ancient emperor worked, thousands of monuments were lost. Raise one's head near a high mountain, the polar eye is disordered and the peak is low. Flowers bloom and smell the path, and spring water flows through the far stream. [Huangguman]
Located in the south of Mount Li Nature Reserve, Huangguman is an important scenic spot of Yuanqu Yellow River • Mount Li scenic spot. Huangguman is the second highest peak of Mount Li with an altitude of 2134m. It is said that it is where Emperor Shun's two concubines, E Huang and Nu Ying once lived. It’s so called for the foggy and curtain-like view. The scenic area boasts magnificent mountains, dense ancient forests, crisscross vines, strange rocks, lush vegetation and fresh air. The scenery is poetic and picturesque, which makes people linger on. Climbing on the top of the mantle and overlooking Shunwangping, the main peak of Mount Li, is teemed with green grass in the north; And there are zigzag mountains in the south, erecting high and straight to the sky; 72 Hungou, the core original forest area of Mount Li, is located with deep and secluded ancient forest in the West; and Yunmeng, lies with beautiful sceneries in the East. [Mihouyuan]
Lishan Mihouyuan is located at the junction of Xihonghong village in Yuanqu and Donghonghong village in Yangcheng. It is a scientific research base of rare animals and plants in Mount Li. It’s habitat to more than 1000 wildmacaca mulattas all year round, which is the largest wild macaque domestication base in northern China.
