The City God Temple was originally built during Hongwu years of Ming Dynasty and has been renovated during successive dynasties. The existing building was rebuilt on the original site referring to the building map in Jiangzhou Chronicle of Zhili Province which edited during Guangxu years of Qing Dynasty. Investing 12 million RMB, Xinjiang county party Committee and county government rebuilt it in 2011. The central axis is symmetrical, and the main buildings are: memorial archway, main gate, sacrificial hall, east and west side halls, main hall, east and west corridor rooms, free-life pond, bedroom, east and west affiliated halls, and a site signifying 18 layers of hell. The City God Temple is in the shape of “court in the front and bedroom in the back”, reflecting the ancient state level city god temple building regulations.
