Ruanchui Luogu (soft hammer drum) is a unique folk gong and drum performance popular in Gaojiazhuang Village, Huangpu Town, Wanrong County. It was invented at the early Western Han Dynasty. Its most obvious feature is that its drumstick is made of the hemp rope which is more dexterous and powerful while beating the drum. The performers beat drums with various forms and flexible actions which looks amazing and attractive. The drumstick is soft so it produce “flickering force” which sounds louder than the hard drumstick and is full of magic. Ruanchui Luogu from Gaojiazhuang contains seven Qupai (a distinctive form of Chinese traditional music) and most of them are named after the war such as Sanguan Dianshuai (Emergent Appointment), Shuangguan War, Fengxue War, Shagu Drum. It is a unique artistic treasure of China because of its heavy weight and skilled performance.
