Jiangzhou Hall
Issue time:2021-09-04

Jiangzhou Hall is located in Jüyuanchi Community of Xinjiang County. It is a national key cultural relic protection unit. It is 47.05 meters long from north to south, 31.2 meters wide from east to west, and covers an area of 1468 square meters. The date of its establishment is unknown. It was repaired many times in Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, particularly in the ninth year of Hongwu of Ming Dynasty (1376), eighteenth year of Qianlong of Qing Dynasty (1753) and fourth year of Guangxu of Qing Dynasty (1878). The main building is a relic of Yuan Dynasty. It is said that Zhang Shigui was in command and lived here, hence it was called “Shuai Zheng Tang” and later became the office main hall of Jiangzhou Prefecture. There are main hall, the second hall and the third hall on the axis. The Hall is seven-bay in width, eight-rafter in length and has a single eave with “xuan’shan’ding(gabled roof)” style. The beam frame is six-rafter opposite to two-rafter and four columns are used to connect the eaves of the rear wing. The interior of the hall adopts the method of reducing columns. The interior columns are vertically loaded with large internal girder (nei’e for Chinese pronunciation) and double girders (you’e for Chinese pronunciation), which bear load together with the transverse beam frame. The structure shows obvious characteristics of Yuan Dynasty. Seventeen brackets are applied to the front eaves, with a shape of five “puzuo (a unit of bracket)” with double lower arches. The flat column bases are of lotus-covered type, and the rear gold column bases are of plain basin-covered type. In front of the hall, there were originally three “baosha (arc-roofed houses)”, which have now been destroyed. The second hall and the third hall are all single-eave “xuan’shan’ding(gabled roof)” style buildings with three-bay in width and two-rafter in length, with simple shapes. On the east of the back wall is a stone stele “Seven Articles of Imperial Civil Servants from Emperor Song Zhenzong”. The Hall, the Bell Tower and Music Tower are together called “Jiangzhou Hall”. In December 1985, it was announced as a provincial key cultural relic protection unit; and on November 20, 1996, it was announced as a national key cultural relic protection unit.
