The Whooper Swans Scenic Area, situated three kilometers along the Pinglu-Fenglingdu line at Pinglu County in Shanxi Province and five kilometers away from Sanmenxia High-speed Railway Station, enjoys sound convenient communications. The scenic area, located at the part of the middle Yellow River, is the transition area between warm temperate and subtropical climate and is also the “exchange corridor” of northern and southern biology because of its various vegetation forms and its wide range of flora and fauna. Therefore, it is famed as “natural zoologic and botanical garden” for its biodiversity. Especially from November each year to next April, tens of thousands of whooper swans migrate to this habitat for overwintering far away from Siberia and Outer Mongolia. They chase each other and play for fun, sing loudly, fly high and hover around, or dance joyfully, which produce the pretty landscape in this loess land during winter time and is “one of wonders of the Yellow River wetlands”.

With the Zhongtiaoshan Range in the north and the Yellow River in the south, the scenic area gains a distinguished and awesome view for its mountain-adjoining and riverside feature. Taking a walk along the lake shore, you would enjoy the graceful dancing of swans. The experience of approaching swans make you feel the perfect harmony between man and nature. You could also enjoy a variety of other scenery like equestrian experience, take pleasure in the sea of flowers (wedding photograph base), watch lotus flowers in the pond, wander beside the Yellow River and pick fruit in the farmland.  

【Observation Deck】

It is located in the northeastern Zhongtiaoshan Range of the garden. Visitors have a bird's-eye view on the natural beauty of the swan lake and mountains.

【The Swan’s Granary】

It is situated round the lake. Winter wheat, as the major growing crops, offers food for overwintering swans. It creates a harmonious human-nature scenery when swans forage food in the farmland.

【Equestrian Experience】

It is in the north center of the scenery area and offers visitors with learning and experiencing horseback riding. 

【Wooden Plank Road】

The two-kilometer road, running through the north shore of the swan lake, is set for strolling, resting or sightseeing for visitors.

【The pleasure of viewing the sea of flowers 】

It is on the south island of the wetland reserve covering an area of more than 100 mu (a unit of area, 1 mu≈667㎡). The fragrance of flowers are everywhere while in flower blooming season.

【Lotus-admiring Tour】

It is in the north of the sea of flowers covering an area of 50 mu (a unit of area, 1 mu≈667㎡). Visitors could admire all sorts of lotus flowers.
